Mohamed Aissa: “Verses Targeting Jews In Holy Qur’an Are Pillars Of Religious Defense System”

Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments Mohamed Aissa responded to the call by some Frenchmen to delete verses from the Holy Quran claiming that they are hostile to the Jews by stressing that these verses are pillars of the Islamic defense system, adding : “These demands will hit the walls of the scholars of Islam and those of Humanity”.
In a statement to”Echorouk”, Mohamed Aissa said that France is not the one who calls for the removal of some verses from the holy Koran on the pretext of insulting the Jews. Some of them who call themselves the educated elite in France, are calling today call for the deletion of Qur’anic verses that speak of Jews, adding that they have their supporters in the Muslim world, as they have their group in Algeria, referring to the Algerian novelist Boualem Sansal.
The minister said that they are pushing for the creation of “modernist” Islam, as they are thinking of deleting verses from the holy Koran that touch their “sensitive” feelings, which are generally related to the defense system in the Islamic religious system and the penal system in the Holy Quran.
The religious affairs minister’s response to these calls came after a number of French writers and activists called for the elimination of anti-Jewish Koranic verses.
In another context, the minister referred to the issue of reviewing the Islamic curricula in the field of national education, arguing that the educational curricula in Islamic sciences today no longer produce a strong creation – he said – especially that the young graduates of today’s schools and universities do not abide by the provisions of religion.
So, it is necessary, he said, to review some of the contents of Islamic education in the national education sector, and there is no harm – according to him – to resort to the Ministry of National Education by involving experts specialized in Islamic law.
