Hassan Kassimi: Algeria Loses 200 Billion Centimes To Counter Flow Of “Harraga” (illegal migrants)

Algeria is losing more than $ 20 million, or more than 200 billion centimes (DA), to counter the “Harraga” influx, as the latter have been flocking in the thousands to the Algerian border at a rate of 500 African migrants a day, the Interior and Local Assemblies Ministry said Monday.
Algeria has allocated a financial package of 20 million dollars to counter the steady flows of illegal immigrants, the Director of Migration at the Ministry of the Interior, Mr. Hassan Kassimi, said adding that these African “harragas”(illegal migrants) threaten the security and stability of the country at a time when some shadowy parties are exploiting the migration file to put pressure on Algeria.
“Algeria is not concerned about the illegal immigrant in itself as much as it is concerned beyond these huge numbers of illegal immigrants, especially as the situation is currently re-designing the world and upsetting the balance of power, especially in the continent of Africa and its production of wealth.”
Mr. Kassimi also stressed that Algeria’s position is clear and cannot be compromised with regard to external interference in the internal affairs of other countries or military interventions, which has produced catastrophic consequences in Libya and Mali and the resulting spread of the scourges of terrorism and organized crime, which Algeria is steadily working to combat in close coordination with neighboring countries.
