Defence Lawyers Withdraw From The Case Of Selling El Khabar Newspaper To Rebrab

Defence lawyers of El Khabar newspaper declared their collective withdrawal from the case of the deal concerning the assignment of El Khabar shares for the benefit of the company Nass-Prod and its owner, the businessman Issad Rebrab, in protest to what they called as the “show” trial, while for the administrative court’s judge of Bir Mourad Rais postponed the hearing in the abolition of the deal until next Wednesday with determining the sentence on July 13.

Defence lawyers of El Khabar, explained during a press conference that was held on Wednesday at the Liberté newspaper’s forum, a matter of the withdrawal, which copy was given to the judge, Mohamed Dahmane, in charge of dismissal in the case that was brought by the Ministry of Communication against Al Khabar complex, considering that the mass withdrawal is a protest against what happened and started the case from the beginning to the lack of programming the hearing on Wednesday, and postponed it to next Wednesday, describing what happened as the “show trial”, asserting that their conviction requires the withdrawal with honour and not continuing the hearing.

They confirmed that their decision was based on several legal data that accompanied the case that was brought by the Ministry of Communication against El Khabar since last April, 26, and the most important thing is issuing “an emergency order” to admit the lawsuit in form and freeze the effects of the deal in subject, despite the fact that the same judge in the hearing of June, 7, and the request of the Ministry of communication’s lawyer to give him a material proof that head of “Cevital” Issad Rabrab who owns “Liberté” and “El Khabar” newspaper at the same time and for the same company.

It should be noted that the defence lawyers of El Khabar consiste of 51 lawyers, who presented on Tuesday in front of the administrative court of Bir Mourad Rais (Algiers), to deposit the decision of withdrawing from the case of “El Khabar- Nass Prod”, which copy was delivered to the Chairman of El Khabar’s Administrative Council, and reporting the opponent’s lawyer (Ministry of Communications), and this after lawyers presented their own files on the abolition of the deal, after the urgency judge issued the decision of the emergency case ordering to freeze the effects of  the deal on the assignment of shares for the benefit of the company “Nass-Prod” One of the branches of Cevital.
